Who is Jesus?

Jesus of Nazareth is the Son of God, who came into the world and became a man.

He lived among us and experienced weariness, hunger, sorrow, and the hardships of human life. He drew near to the sick, listened to those no one else wanted to hear, and showed compassion to the people others rejected.

But Jesus was much more than a good man or a great teacher.

The Bible teaches us that He is God made man. Through His life, His words, and His actions, we can come to know what God is like and how much He loves us.

When we get to know Jesus, we begin to discover the heart of the Father.

The Bible says:

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us […] full of grace and truth.”

John 1:14 · KJV

For your life:

Maybe until today you’ve only known Jesus through what other people have told you.

What would happen if you began to get to know Him for yourself?

Your first step: Read John 1:1-18 and discover what the Bible says about Jesus.

Why did Jesus come into the world?

Jesus didn’t come into the world by chance. His coming was part of God’s plan to bring us back to Himself.

The Bible teaches that sin separates us from God. All of us, in one way or another, have made choices that go against His will.

But God never stopped loving us.

Jesus came to seek those who were lost, to proclaim the good news of the Kingdom of God, and to offer salvation.

During His ministry, He drew near to people others had written off. He ate with sinners, welcomed those who repented, and showed that no one is too far away to answer God’s call.

His coming is an expression of God’s love for humanity.

The Bible says:

“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

Luke 19:10 · KJV

For your life:

Maybe at some point you’ve felt that you were too far from God, that you had made too many mistakes, or that your life could never change.

The story of Jesus reminds us that God is the one who takes the first step to seek us.

Your first step: Read Luke 19:1-10 and discover how Jesus transformed the life of Zacchaeus.

What is God’s love for me like?

Sometimes we think that before we can receive God’s love, we first have to change, clean up our behavior, or become better people.

But the Bible shows us something different.

God loved us even while we were sinners.

Jesus didn’t wait for humanity to be perfect before giving His life. His love was shown precisely when we needed His grace the most.

That doesn’t mean our choices don’t matter. It means that God’s love is the starting point for a new life.

You don’t need to hide your mistakes to come to Him. You can acknowledge them and find in Jesus forgiveness and a chance to start over.

The Bible says:

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

Romans 5:8 · KJV

For your life:

Maybe it’s easy for you to believe that God loves other people, but hard to believe that He loves you too.

God’s love doesn’t depend on your having a perfect past.

Your first step: Read Luke 15:11-32, the story of the prodigal son, and notice how the father welcomes his son when he comes home.

Why did Jesus die on the cross?

The cross is one of the central events of the Christian faith.

The Bible teaches that we have all sinned and that sin has consequences. By our own efforts we cannot erase our guilt or reach God’s perfect righteousness.

Out of love, Jesus willingly gave His life for us.

He, who never sinned, died for our sins to reconcile us to God.

His death shows us both how serious sin is and how great God’s love is.

The cross reminds us that forgiveness has a cost, and that Jesus was willing to give Himself to offer us a new life.

The Bible says:

“For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God […]”

1 Peter 3:18 · KJV

For your life:

We all have choices we regret. Some have left consequences we still remember.

Jesus invites us to acknowledge our sins, repent, and receive the forgiveness God offers through Him.

Your first step: Read Luke 23:32-43 and notice how Jesus responded to one of the men crucified beside Him.

What does it mean that Jesus rose from the dead?

The story of Jesus did not end at the cross.

The Bible proclaims that on the third day after His death, Jesus rose again.

His resurrection is the heart of Christian hope. It shows us that death did not have the last word, and it confirms the message of salvation Jesus proclaimed.

The disciples, who had been full of fear and sorrow, began to proclaim that Jesus was alive.

For those who believe in Him, the resurrection means that our hope reaches beyond this life.

Jesus is alive, and through Him we can have a relationship with God and the hope of eternal life.

The Bible says:

“He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.”

Matthew 28:6 · KJV

For your life:

There are moments when it seems everything is over: a loss, a disappointment, or a situation we don’t know how to face.

The resurrection of Jesus reminds us that our hope rests in a living Savior.

That doesn’t mean all our difficulties will disappear, but it does mean we can trust Him even in the middle of them.

Your first step: Read John 20 and discover how the disciples responded when they met the risen Jesus.

How can I receive salvation?

One of the most beautiful truths of the gospel is that salvation is a gift from God.

We cannot buy it, earn it through our good works, or obtain it simply by belonging to a religion.

The Bible teaches that we are saved by God’s grace, through faith in Jesus Christ.

This means acknowledging that we need His forgiveness, repenting of our sins, and placing our trust in Jesus as Savior and Lord.

True faith leads us to respond to His love and to begin a life of obedience to Him.

You don’t need to have your whole life figured out to come to Jesus. You can begin today.

The Bible says:

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Ephesians 2:8-9 · KJV

For your life:

Maybe at some point you’ve thought, “Once my life changes, I’ll come to God.”

But Jesus invites you to come to Him today.

You can acknowledge your need for forgiveness and put your trust in what Christ has done for you.

Your first step: Read Romans 10:9-13 and reflect on what it means to believe in Jesus and acknowledge Him as Lord.

How can I begin a relationship with Jesus?

Knowing Jesus is much more than learning facts about His life.

It means beginning a personal relationship with Him through faith.

You can talk with God in prayer, read the Bible to learn His will, and learn to trust His teachings.

You don’t need complicated words to pray. You can speak honestly, tell Him your worries, thank Him, and ask Him to help you understand His Word.

Our relationship with Jesus grows as we spend time getting to know Him and seek to live by what He teaches us.

It’s not about doing everything perfectly from the very first day. It’s about beginning to walk with Him.

The Bible says:

“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”

John 17:3 · KJV

For your life:

Think of someone you know well. That relationship most likely grew because you shared time, conversations, and experiences.

Getting to know Jesus also takes time.

Your first step: Set aside a few minutes today to read John 15:1-11. Then talk with God about what you read.

What do I do after I believe in Jesus?

Following Jesus is the beginning of a new way of living.

The Bible shows us that the first Christians learned the apostles’ teaching, shared their faith, prayed together, and supported one another.

You, too, can begin to grow in your relationship with God.

Read the Bible, spend time in prayer, and look for a Christian community where you can learn, ask questions, and be supported along the way.

Jesus also taught His followers to love one another, to forgive, and to share the good news.

You don’t have to learn everything in a single day.

Every step of obedience and every moment spent getting to know His Word can help you grow in your faith.

The Bible says:

“And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.”

Acts 2:42 · KJV

For your life:

The Christian life was never meant to be lived alone.

There are people who can walk alongside you, help you understand the Bible, and pray with you.

Your first step: Start reading the Gospel of John, look for a Christian church that faithfully teaches the Bible, and talk with someone you trust about your decision to follow Jesus.
